    • I went to Kelimutu without big expectations. I had seen a few pretty photos and thought it looked worth visiting.

Getting there was easy by scooter. You can’t enter before 6:00 AM, so everyone waits at the gate for tickets. Then there’s a short walk through the forest and up some stairs.

The clouds made the whole place look amazing, and later the morning light changed everything. Once I flew the drone, I was honestly impressed.

A place worth seeing 😍

    • Right after coming down from Mount Agung, I took a ferry to Lombok… and somehow ended up on a 3-day trek on Mount Rinjani.

Day one was the climb to base camp.
We reached around midday, rested for a bit, and at 2:00 AM we started again, this time heading for the summit.

The climb felt constant and demanding, especially on the loose gravel sections where every step slides back a little.
It was definitely more crowded than Kerinci or Agung.

At the top, I waited again for the sunrise.
And just like before, it was worth every second.

I was genuinely happy to finally make it to the summit.
And the view from up there… it doesn’t quite feel real.

After descending back to camp, I packed up and continued the circuit, down to the lake, then back up to the next campsite, with views over both the crater and the water.

On the final day, I made my way down through the jungle.

Overall, it’s an experience I’d still recommend, even though it has become quite touristic.

‼️ One thing to be aware of: access to the national park is limited, and permits are required.
Some agencies still take on more people than they should and hope to pass through without proper permits.

Unfortunately, a few groups we met were stopped at the checkpoint and had to turn back.

I was lucky to find a spot last minute, but if you’re planning this trek, it’s definitely better to book in advance and go with a reliable agency.

    • These are the mornings I’d choose every time.

Cold air, tired eyes, and the kind of sunrise that makes every lost hour of sleep worth it. Some moments don’t need comfort, they just need you to show up.

    • This was my 5th time in Bali… and I had never climbed Mount Agung.

So I booked it.

A few hours later, I found myself in a car leaving Kuta in the evening, heading towards the mountain.

After about 3.5 hours, I met @mountain_agung , my guide, one of those genuinely kind and easygoing people who make the whole experience feel lighter from the start.

We began the hike around midnight.
Along the way, we crossed paths with other groups, stopped to make offerings, and every now and then I would turn around to look at the city lights glowing far below.

The climb felt constant.
Maybe even steeper than Kerinci.

At 3,031m, it’s not about altitude, but about the rhythm… the kind that makes your heart race and your legs burn in the best way.

Once again, we moved faster than expected and reached the top too early.
So we stopped just below the summit, made a small fire, and waited in the cold for the right moment to continue.

That final push… and then it was there.

As the first light slowly appeared, I looked into the distance and saw it.

Rinjani.

I had tried to climb it back in 2019, but an earthquake stopped me at the crater.

And just like that… another idea started to form.
This was my 5th time in Bali… and I had never climbed Mount Agung.

So I booked it.

A few hours later, I found myself in a car leaving Kuta in the evening, heading towards the mountain.

    • I couldn’t leave Sumatra without climbing its highest peak.
📍Gunung Kerinci.

Even though it can be done in a day, I chose to go with a local guide I found on Instagram (@gokerinciadventure). I reached out on WhatsApp, stayed at his homestay before and after the hike, and it made the whole experience feel much easier and more personal.

At 3,805m, it doesn’t give itself away easily, but it’s not as hard as I expected either. It’s more about steady effort than anything else.

We left camp at 4:00 AM, hoping to reach the summit by sunrise. Somehow, we got there in about an hour… and ended up waiting in the dark and wind for the light to come.

Watching the sky slowly change, seeing the craters and lakes appear, made it all worth it.

Weather matters more than anything here.
On a clear day, it feels incredible.
In the rain, it can get slippery and much more demanding.

Personally, I didn’t find it very difficult, but I’m used to this kind of effort, so it might feel different for others.

If you’re in Sumatra and you enjoy this kind of experience,
this is one of those climbs you shouldn’t miss.
I couldn’t leave Sumatra without climbing its highest peak.

    • Sumatra was one of those places that felt raw, wild, and unforgettable. So much beauty, so much life, and the kind of adventure that makes you feel fully present.

    • This is how my time in Sumatra unfolded.

It began in Bukit Lawang, deep in the jungle,
with trekking, rafting, and seeing orangutans in the wild.

Then came a sunrise hike on Mount Sibayak,
followed by a waterfall I almost didn’t plan for, Sipiso Piso.

A few quiet days by Lake Toba,
and later island life in Sabang, a bit different than expected.

Padang slowed everything down,
before reaching Harau Valley, the place that stayed with me the most.

Bukittinggi for the Rafflesia flower,
and finally Mount Kerinci, two days of hiking to the highest peak in Sumatra.

Getting around wasn’t always simple.
Flights, long drives, ferries, and figuring things out along the way.

But somewhere in all of that, I learned to slow down, to be patient, and to move at the island’s pace instead of mine.

This is how my time in Sumatra unfolded.

It began in Bukit Lawang, deep in the jungle,
with trekking, rafting, and seeing orangutans in the wild.

    • Sumatra didn’t feel like an easy place to love at first.
It felt raw, unpredictable, and a little harder than I expected.

But maybe that’s exactly why you’d come here.

For landscapes that still feel untouched.
For encounters you don’t really plan.
For places that don’t try too hard to impress you.

It’s less touristic than other Indonesian islands, and in the north especially, daily life feels closely tied to local traditions.

Between jungles, small villages, and long days of exploring,
this is the kind of place that reveals itself slowly.

Not always easy.
But definitely worth it.

    • A few honest things about me.

I’m curious, intuitive, optimistic, and a little unconventional.
I love early mornings, I care deeply about family, and I’ve learned to trust what feels right to me more than what simply looks right from the outside.
I work in tech, but I’m always drawn to discovery, movement, and a life with more depth, freedom, and meaning.

Still figuring it out, but in a way that feels true to me. 🤍

    • If you really want to know me, the things I love are a good place to start.
Most of them have less to do with what they are, and more with how they make me feel.

Alive. Present. Curious. Free.
That can look like a mountain trail, an island, a quiet morning, a long run, a new place, a table full of local food, or a conversation that stays with me.

I love the things that pull me out of routine and bring me closer to life.
The things that make me move, feel, notice more, and stay open to what’s around me.
Sometimes that means beauty, sometimes challenge, sometimes spontaneity, sometimes connection.

I think that’s why I’m drawn to so many different kinds of experiences.
At the core of all of them is the same feeling: I love whatever helps me feel more like myself. 🤍

To share what inspires me along the way.
And to build a space around adventure, growth, and the kind of travel that changes you.

If you’re into mountains, wild places, movement, and real travel stories, let’s connect. 🤍

    • A slow goodbye to the day, somewhere in the Leaota forest.

    • I don’t remember the days, I remember moments like this. ❄️
The kind that quiet your mind and make you feel alive.
Here’s to collecting more of them, one trail at a time. 🏔️

    • My last hike in Romania, in the Leaota Mountains, was pure joy. ❄️
I loved the simple part: walking through the forest, hearing the snow under my boots, and catching that golden sunset between the trees.
It reminded me that you don’t always need big plans, sometimes you just need a trail and a little light. 🌲🌅
